Halflants + Pichette: Modern Architecture Studio
Halflants + Pichette is a modern design and build studio. From conception to construction, they create high quality, contemporary designs that are as beautiful as they are functional.
Based in Sarasota, Florida, Halflants + Pichette’s qualified team assists their clients with a variety of services including architectural design, interior design, master planning and complete construction services.
The firm has numerous awards to its credit. Recently, it was recognized as “Best Custom Home Builder” by Home Builder Digest, a national online magazine dedicated to the residential housing industry.
From design to construction
Halflants + Pichette is state licensed in architecture and construction. On most projects, they perform both design and construction services, bringing their experience and holistic approach to the job site.
While many design and construction firms are contractor driven, Halflants + Pichette focuses on design. All of their projects are supervised by architects, allowing them to maintain continuity of management and design oversight throughout each phase of the project.
At each phase of design and construction, they solicit feedback directly from their on-site staff and subcontractors. This allows them to make informed aesthetic and cost decisions onsite. In this way, the firm provides added value with turnkey architectural and construction services.
To date, they have completed 10 residential and commercial design-build projects throughout the Gulf Coast, from Venice to St. Petersburg.
Founders with a passion for their work
Michael Halflants FAIA and John Pichette are the two people behind the creation of this prestigious firm.
Michael Halflants, during his years at the University of Florida, had the honor of receiving the Gold Medal, his college’s highest design honor.
In 2018, Michael received the Florida Medal of Honor for Design, the highest honor the American Institute of Architects can bestow on an architect in Florida.
Each year, less than one in a thousand registered architects are selected by a national committee of past awardees. And this year, only twenty-two architects across the United States were accepted for the award based on their design contributions to the profession.
Currently a tenured professor of architecture at the University of South Florida’s Tampa campus, Michael has also led design studios around the world, including Tokyo, Mexico City, Berlin and Madrid.
John Pichette is both a registered architect and a licensed contractor.
After serving four years in the US Air Force, he completed an intensive five-year professional program at Andrews University in Michigan.
John has served as a project architect for numerous commercial and public projects. He has managed the design documentation and construction administration for over 40 buildings, including many local and national AIA award-winning projects.
